A kot is student accommodation in Belgium. In community housing, you generally have your own room and share certain spaces, notably the kitchen. A kot-à-project, or KAP, associates this common life with a collective cultural, social, sporting or environmental project. The activities and services of a KAP may be accessible to people other than its inhabitants, depending on the conditions of the activity.
As soon as you settle in, talk to your roommates about maintenance, dishes, shared shopping, sharing expenses, noise and guests. Set rules compatible with the lease and housing instructions. Promptly report necessary repairs to the manager. If a conflict persists, request the Help Service.
